Random thought but idk why ppl thought shadow shouldn't have gotten infected by the metal virus

Like. Yeah he's the ultimate lifeform. He's immortal and literally made to be immune to most if not all diseases. But

The metal virus. Isn't an actual disease

It's a bunch nanomachines that convert living organic material into more of itself

Shadow is made of living organic material

The only way he would have been immune (based solely on what canonical info there is on how the metal virus works) is if he was inorganic or dead, which he obviously isn't. And no just bc he was made in a lab doesn't mean he's not organic

Sure, they probably could've made him immune to it in some way, like say the high amounts of chaos energy in him burn it off on contact or something. But how to get rid of it is never fully explained. All we know is that something about sonic's speed burned it off for him, but it's not explained further as far as I can remember and the virus eventually mutated to become resistant to that anyway

Going super seemed to get rid of it completely for sonic tho, so the cure could've been chaos energy after all. Or it could've been like, chaos control warping time or the warp topaz warping reality to sonic and silver's will or something. Again, it's never fully explained, and who knows if shadow would've had the time to fight it off or cure himself anyway considering the circumstances of his infection

Anyway. Tldr shadow is living flesh and the virus infects all living flesh. Him getting infected makes sense based on what we understand of the virus. That's all

so!! a little housekeeping is in order!!

i'm gonna be here kinda off and on bc i'm going to work on school stuff! and bc my inspiration's been decent, i might reblog a lil spicy meme over on @tvrningon and something fluffy here, though ofc you're free to send in any meme i've reblogged in the past <3 i also have an inbox call that i'll probably work on sometime later today!

and just to kinda share where my head's at, my muse for kny hasn't been very high lately, so i'm thinking of changing my muse list in a way that reflects that. i just!! haven't figured out how exactly. i might categorize the lists by fandom and then by primary, secondary, and tertiary/request. i just want to show that my focus is on chiyo/modern muses, fantasy, and even s.piderverse stuff atm but without shoving all my other muses off the list or into the request category. i can definitely still write everybody!! the muse just isn't there like it used to be.

this doesn't affect many people here, but i may also edit chiyo's bio to make her fandomless again; i just don't interact with hq!! muses very often anymore, and her story isn't one that necessarily needs to be connected to hq!! to work.

i apologize if any of this disappoints anybody btw! i know this blog used to be very kny-centered, and a lot of people followed me for that originally. but i need to do what's going to make being here fun for me, which means changing things. if you need to soft/hardblock me, there's no hard feelings, and i wish you the best <3

Snippet Sunday

Alright. I'm going to bite the bullet and say it so I'm held to it. I will start posting 6b fic a week from Tuesday. It's not quite complete, like I usually prefer before posting, but I really want to start in the hiatus and I feel like (hope!) there's enough of a buffer that I can maintain the weekly posting schedule!

I think that means this will be the last snippet. I couldn't decide which one to post: this bit felt a little spoilery but on the other hand it has been in my head for literally MONTHS and I am just so excited that it's finally written out and I don't think I can deal with waiting much longer to share it so I'm going with it.

“I see you also decided this was a good place for a nice date and dessert,” Buck said, returning to his position next to Natalia, his arm around her waist. 

“Bobby recommended it. He said the key lime pie was incredible and he was absolutely right,” Samuel said, gesturing at the crumbs left on their plates.

“The cocktails are definitely not as good as the ones you and May managed to concoct the other night though,” Beatrice added warmly. “You’ll have to come over again so we can watch you make them and get the full experience before we go back to Florida.”

Natalia made a small, strange noise in the back of her throat, drawing everyone’s attention to her. 

“Oh, I’m so sorry, we’re so rude,” Beatrice said, chagrined. “It’s lovely to meet you, dear – you must be Eddie.” 

Buck’s brain went completely blank. 

“Is that short for Edith?” Samuel asked curiously. When the silence stretched a little too long to be comfortable, he chuckled awkwardly and added, “It’s probably not the done thing to ask that kind of thing, is it?” 

“My name is Natalia,” Natalia said. 

“Eddie is short for Edmundo,” Buck supplied helpfully, hoping that acting like the mistake was normal and nothing worth commenting on would help dispel the awkwardness.

Judging by how stiff Natalia’s body had gotten against him, he didn’t think he had succeeded.

i'm deleting the original of this post because i simply cannot get 500 messages a day saying whether people do or don't have alerts in their area. It was interesting at first, but after almost two weeks of it, it's no longer contributing to the conversation. We've established that some people are getting alerts in some parts of North America and some people aren't. That wasn't the point of this post. _____________________

the reason there are no actual phone alerts for the air quality in Canada and parts of the US right now is because the government doesn't want to freak people out. This is what I've taken to calling New Normal Syndrome Return to Normal Syndrome — when people don't want to acknowledge that the worst air quality on record, or an ongoing global pandemic is cause for alarm and appropriate protective measures.

Return to Normal Syndrome has also affected the folks pretending it's "Normal" (or not a form of child abuse??) to take their kids out in a level 11 air quality warning without any respiratory protection before kids can comprehend the damage that will do to their lungs.

People with Return to Normal Syndrome can wear blinders as much as they want, they can cling to "Normal" with their fingertips, but it's not going to make it true. We're living in a global pandemic, in a climate crisis, and this is not sustainable.

We don't need to adjust to "the New Normal," we need to take appropriate steps to fix it and mitigate the damage that it's causing, at least within our own families and communities to start.
